Watering behaviour:
Here's your mantra: less is more! Alocasia are susceptible to root rot, so always allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out well before you reach for the watering can again. It is best to water from below by placing the pot in a bowl of water for approx. 20-30 minutes. This allows it to soak up the water without drowning the roots. -
Humidity:
As a jungle dweller, it loves a tropical climate! Humidity of over 50 % would be fantastic. Especially in winter with dry heating air, it will thank you for regular spraying, a humidifier nearby or the company of other plants. -
Nutrient supply:
In spring and summer, your baby plant is hungry for nutrients. Give it a diluted green plant fertiliser every 4 weeks. In autumn and winter, it takes a short break and doesn't need any extra nutrients.
